Request for Abstracts 2021

  • We invite you to submit your work for conference presentations on one of our seven themes:
    • Advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in healthcare
    • Communicating and engaging with patients, families and each other
    • Compassionate responses to social challenges
    • Creating compassionate organizational cultures
    • Leading with compassion
    • Compassion research: correlations and outcomes
    • Mitigating stress and cultivating resilience, mental health and well-being
     
    The conference will begin in June 2021. Submissions are due January 8, 2021.

    Individuals whose abstracts are accepted will be expected to register for the conference. A limited number of scholarships will be available.

  • Timing: Presenters will have 20 minutes to present their work during abstract sessions.

    We invite research presentations on:
    • The cognitive psychology, neuroscience, social neuroscience of empathy, compassion, mindfulness, resilience, burnout and related topics
    • Assessment of educational interventions related to the conference themes
    • Assessment of quality initiatives related to the conference themes
    • Assessment of organizational, health system and community interventions related to the conference themes

Research abstract presentations will be pre-recorded at your leisure and displayed in our Research Showcase. You will not be presenting live.

  • Please include names and organization affiliations for all authors. Limit your participants to 3 interdisciplinary panelists plus the facilitator. Please plan on using the majority of allocated time for table and/or large group discussions.

  • Virtual arts experiences will involve new ways to think about and experience compassion in healthcare. Presenters may offer music, drama, and/or multi-media presentations including film or art.
